Genoa, Nev. — After two full days of hearings, District Judge Tom Gregory on Wednesday took a records lawsuit against four Douglas County School Board trustees under advisement and will issue a written ruling at some point. Should he find that they are liable, they would have to pay legal fees and might face a civil penalty, as well.

Media and dignitaries toured Carson Valley Health’s new expansion on Wednesday morning as a preview for its impending opening the middle of October. I’ll have more on that in Saturday’s edition.

One of the guests at Wednesday’s ceremony celebrating Carson Valley Health was East Fork Chief Tod Carlini. The Chief announced Tuesday that his final official day will be Feb. 7, 2025. East Fork Fire Protection District Trustees are working to find a new chief.

Douglas County commissioners are scheduled to hear a presentation on the Fish Springs and Pinenut Creek drainage studies at their meeting 10 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden.

Commissioners will also discuss a $67,500 contract with lobbying firm McDonald Carano Government Affairs over the course of the 2025 Legislature and an interlocal agreement between the Tahoe Douglas Transportation District and the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority to fund operation of the microtransit system at the Lake.

A rain gauge at top of Pine Nut Creek recorded .96 inches of rain since 6 a.m. Wednesday, making it the wettest spot in the county, according to the National Weather Service. A gauge in Glenbrook recorded .73 inches, while Topaz Ranch Estates recorded .57 inches over the same time period.

It's foggy out this morning in Carson Valley, so be careful driving.

There’s a chance we’ll see more showers at today’s Main Street Wine Walk, but not much of one. Predicted rain amounts barely qualify as measurable. Otherwise, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 71 degrees, with barely a breeze.
