If you’re going to participate or watch the Turkey Trot it would be a good idea to bundle up this morning. It was 9 degrees at Minden-Tahoe Airport around dawn and in the teens elsewhere.
In-person registration for the run is 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Minden Park today. The run is a fundraiser for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet and Douglas Animal Welfare Group. Go to www.thefoodcloset.org for more information.

I rarely get through a Thanksgiving without having to fetch something from the store. The Gardnerville Smith’s closes at 2 p.m. today and Raley’s closes at 3 p.m. The WalMarts are closed today to reopen 6 a.m. Friday.
If you’re headed to Grandma’s house today, the route over the mountains and through the woods is clear of road controls and maybe a little light on traffic, too. Watch for icy spots on the roads, but both the Nevada and California highway patrols are reporting clear sailing as of 6:40 a.m.
Today is forecast to be sunny with a high temperature of 46 degrees and not a breath of wind. According to the Weather Service, I could essentially cut and paste that forecast for the next week.
