Congratulations to school board winners
Editor:
Allow me to congratulate County voters for electing two new Trustees to the School Board as the first step toward restoring sanity, decency and common sense to that body. Going forward the challenge for the reconstituted Board will be to repair and-or undo the damage done by the previous radical Board majority. This effort will continue to require the support of the county through WDBB or otherwise at the same level as was shown in opposition to radicalism on the board. I am now confident that that will happen.

Thank you to an amazing teacher
Editor:
The Douglas County School District is full of amazing teachers. I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank one of them.
Ms. Pam Ertel. Ms. Ertel was our daughter’s third-grade teacher four years ago. Our daughter had been struggling a little and Ms. Ertel recognized that she could use extra help outside of the classroom.
Ms. Ertel volunteered her own time to meet with our daughter once a week after school to help her. These tutoring sessions began then, and have continued ever since. Through the school years and through the summers, Ms. Ertel has continued to give freely of her time so that our daughter has the best opportunity to be successful in school. She has adjusted her schedule, working around our busy lives, to continue to accommodate us. She has never asked for anything in return, instead just insisting that seeing our daughter’s growth and progress has been the reward.
This story is just one example of how incredible the staff of the Douglas County School District is. We are truly blessed to live here and to be able to have our children attend school here. There are countless examples and stories just like this, of teachers giving freely of their time and energy in order to ensure the success of all of our children.
Thank you Ms. Ertel for everything that you have done, and continue to do for our daughter. We will be forever grateful for you.
