A Gardnerville man who attempted to run his ex-girlfriend off the road faces 16 years in prison.
Tryton Christopher Cox, 19, admitted Monday to assault with a deadly weapon and attempting to escape from custody.
Cox was arrested June 26 after he attempted to run a vehicle containing the woman and three other people off of the road in a late-night chase.
He also freed himself from handcuffs while detained in a patrol vehicle, escaped from the vehicle, and ran toward the woman and had to be tackled.
He is also facing battery of the woman and driving while under the influence charge in East Fork Justice Court.
Cox is being held without bail pending sentencing, which is set for Oct. 14.
• A man in possession of methamphetamine faces up to four years in prison.
Dwight David Fuqua, 69, was arrested June 24 for possession of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, he has two prior felony convictions and a presentence investigation was ordered.
Sentencing is set for Sept. 23.
