A man was taken into custody after a pursuit up Highway 395 ended in a collision around lunchtime on Friday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a deputy was northbound near Muller Lane when the driver of the GMC pickup passed other cars on the shoulder.

When the deputy tried to pull the pickup over, the man refused to yield, and ended up turning west into the barrier that separates the north and south lanes of Highway 395.

"The driver fled on foot for approximately 300 yards before the deputy and a citizen were able to take the subject into custody," the post said.

At one point a deputy told dispatchers the man was shouting for him to shoot him.

The man was taken to Minden Jail.
