Genoa, Nev. — The vacation home rental ordinance went through the gauntlet on Tuesday night where it was recommended for approval to county commissioners with some significant modifications. They didn’t get done until after 7 p.m.


Changes to the 1,020-unit Virginia Ranch Specific Plan was recommended by planning commissioners on Tuesday. Giving up the 10.5-acre school site was the main sticking point for the two planning commissioners who voted against.


A master plan and zoning for the Bing property was denied. As representative Rob Anderson made clear, that didn’t have anything to do with the actual pit, which is being reclaimed.


There are no road controls in place this morning as the latest storm has yet to arrive in the Sierra. However, the radar shows Santa Cruz is getting hammered at around 6:30 a.m. as the latest storm makes landfall.


This storm doesn’t look like a big moisture producer for Carson Valley with maybe an inch of snow today and some rain this afternoon. There is a slight chance of thunder between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.


The forecast calls for snow showers before 2 p.m. turning to rain with a little snow. The wind is out of the north at 5-10 mph with the high temperature hitting 42 degrees.
