A long-time art studio is celebrating a decade of creativity in Carson Valley on Saturday.

From paintings, stain and fused glass to quilts, woodwork, pottery and silverware turned into jewelry, Gadzooks! A Creative Place has seven current members and over a dozen consignors who contribute their unique artwork to the studio.

“We’re all local artists,’ said Gadzooks! member Kas Monson. “We started in 2013 and I think some people thought we would not survive, but we are still here.”

A reception to celebrate the milestone is being held 1-5 p.m. Saturday featuring food, live music by Retrospect and the artists of the studio.

Art on display will include the member wall, a tribute to current and past members and other local artists; Tin designs by Cheyenne McAfee, Bill Hutchison’s blown glass, woven baskets and bracelets by Teddi Hopkins and more.

“We are looking forward to opening up the studio to the public and everyone coming to admire the creativity here,” said Monson. “We nearly shut down 395 during our grand opening in the new location and we hope to have the same turn out.”

Gadzooks is located at 1492 Main St. unit 104, Gardnerville. Visit http://www.gadzooksnv.com/ or call 775-782-9665 for more information.
