Early voting is starting to ramp up some with 1,864 additional ballots cast on Tuesday. Of those 1,489 were paper ballots while 375 residents used a voting machine for a total of 4,117 ballots cast. That’s 1,052 more ballots then were cast in the first three days of early voting in 2018.


The roving ballot box will be at the Kahle Community Center 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Gardnerville Ranchos Fire Station 3-6 p.m. today to drop off paper ballots. Voting machines are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse election tent in Minden and the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.


Douglas County’s unemployment rate dropped a half point to 3.6 percent in September, with 780 workers receiving unemployment. The county’s labor pool is down 132 people to 21,654, according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.


The final Wind Down Wednesday of the season is 4-8 p.m. today at Heritage Park in Gardnerville. It might be a good idea to bring a sweater if you’re going since the temperature will only be in the upper 50s when it starts and will drop 14 degrees by the end.


Expect mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 58 degrees today with the a north breeze picking up in the afternoon to 5-10 mph.
