What would you do if you were faced with having to decide the fate of an 18-year-old man, accused of a murder? That debate wraps up in the Carson Valley Community Theatre’s production “12 Angry Jurors” today and Sunday.

In its last and final weekend, the production focuses on 12 ordinary and different people tasked with juror duty in the case of an 18-year-old man accused of stabbing his father.

Director Jeff Bassa said some of the best feedback he could have asked for in the opening weekend of the production came from a Minden couple who thought the performance was superb and the actors made the story line real and easy to follow.

“The bonus was given by the husband who said he had seen the movie as a boy with his father and it was touching,” said Bassa. “He said the story remains meaningful and provides an emotional response as it was a shared moment with his father and that the performance quality of this show also raised that same level of emotional.”

“12 Angry Jurors,” originally titled “12 Angry Men” was a 1954 CBS Studio One series, later adapted by Reginald Rose. The story line focuses on a group of jurors and their deliberation of young man’s murder trial where the guilty verdict is an automatic death sentence.

From the issue at hand, hidden agendas of the jurors, opposing personalities and opinions to heated arguments, tears and drama, “12 Angry Jurors” is a production that captures a human response that is hard to ignore. It’s a reaction to stop and think, “what would I do in this situation? What would my deliberation be on such a case?”
