Genoa, Nev. — Though today’s vacation home rental debate will be conducted in the Revolution Room at the Hard Rock 10 a.m. today, I’m not expecting anything too revolutionary. But I’ve been surprised before. County commissioners and members of the Vacation Home Rental Advisory Board are meeting jointly at the Stateline casino.

After a presentation by the advisors, commissioners will discuss Walt Nowosad’s effort to repeal the ordinance, entirely. If commissioners don’t agree, they’ll go onto discussing changes. I expect it will be a long meeting. You can watch by visiting douglascountynv.gov and clicking Watch Board Meetings.

I’m following up on Wednesday afternoon’s crash near Ray May Way in the Pine Nuts. First responders reported transporting two people by ground ambulance. The crash backed up traffic for miles on both sides and resulted in Highway 395 being closed for more than an hour.

The pink masquerade party in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Overland scheduled for tonight has been canceled. Meanwhile, the pink flowerpots are sprouting all up and down Main Street.

The Family Support Council is hosting a Bingo fundraiser 5-7:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville.

Carson Valley hasn’t seen any measurable rain since Sept. 22, and we’re not likely to see any over the next week, according to the seven-day forecast. Expect another nice fall day with the high hitting 80 degrees and the wind out of the north at 5-10 mph.
