Genoa, Nev. — A very nearly full house attended the Good Governance Group’s school board debate on Wednesday night. The event was well-run and the questions relevant to the campaign. Next up is the Town Hall Debate, 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.


The future of the emergency management contract with East Fire Protection District will be discussed at today’s county commissioners meeting. That contract was prompted after the county emergency management department didn’t fare very well in a grand jury review.


I don’t expect any surprises on the county’s discussion of the Trump rally’s permit for Saturday. I’m hoping today’s permit approval will shed a little more light on what’s to come. Commissioners meet at 10 a.m. in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden.


I don’t know if I’m going to want to explore a new career path after this election, but if I were, you might find me at the Fall 2022 Job Fair & Career Expo 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the CVIC Hall.


With a big storm hitting the coast of Alaska over the weekend, we might eventually see some of that cold settling south into Nevada next week. There’s nothing vaguely resembling a freeze through Tuesday night.


Another cut and paste job on the weather today with the high climbing to 83 degrees and the wind shifting to the northwest at 5 mph this afternoon.
