Genoa, Nev. — Rescuers fished a couple of paddleboarders out of Topaz Lake on Sunday afternoon. They were both wearing life jackets and Marine 8 got to them and were able to get them out of the water in good order around 3:15 p.m.

Siren protesters gathered in Minden Park on Sunday for speeches, a round dance and a run. Last year’s included a bike ride, as I recall.

The Clerk-Treasurer’s Office reports 177 residents voted early on Saturday. That’s just under half the 360-voter turnout from 2018, but given that everyone got a ballot in the mail, that’s not really a surprise. Most of Saturday’s voters, 142 to be precise, were Republicans.

The commissioners chambers, where ballot processing is underway, is on Youtube 24/7 for anyone who would like to watch, but like most things, there’s not a lot to see, until there is. The link is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sYHpMmKYF8

It’s Memorial Day, so no there’s mail delivery, or nonemergency government services today. The R-C is closed, but I’m working, so if you need something drop me a line at the email below.

I suspect that any white stuff you see on the ground in Western Nevada will be from the cottonwoods. There’s a 5,500-foot snow level that will rise to 7,800 feet this afternoon, but not much moisture to make anything happen.

It’s going to be cool today with the slimmest chance of showers after 11 a.m. Otherwise expect mostly sunny skies with the high near 67 degrees. The wind will be out of the northwest at 5-10 mph, increasing to 10-15 mph this afternoon.
