Last push before primary

The R-C cracked 5,000 words worth of political letters in today’s edition and we don’t see any slow-down as the election approaches.

There are only two more editorial sections before the June 14 Primary Election Day, and we expect to see enough letters to easily fill those.

Today was the last opportunity to raise new issues before the Primary Election. Voters have already received their ballots in the mail and early in-person voting begins Saturday.

If you’ve got something to say about an issue that has already been raised, feel free.

Our preference, of course, is to use these next two editions to talk about your favorite candidate rather than blasting the other side.

We expect to start seeing letters from candidates who’ve decided to avail themselves of the one-letter per campaign rule.

To be clear, we’re not soliciting. It’s always better for someone else to sing your praises than to toot your own horn.

Remember there may well be letter writers who aren’t running for office, who would like to have their opinions published, as well.

We’d ask that endorsement letters keep it short. Our goal is to get as many different people’s letters in over the next two weeks as possible.

Keep in mind, this is just the first hurdle in what will be a long hot summer of politicking before the final push in the fall.

As for The R-C, this will be the last Our Take until June 15, in order to devote that space to our readers.

Good luck … to all of us.
