A 22-year-old Carson City man, who led authorities on a high-speed pursuit from Topsy Lane north, was ordered to enter and complete a regimental boot camp program.

Donald Earl Robertson could face up to 11 years when he returns to Douglas County in six months, depending on how he fares in the program.

Prosecutor Nathaniel Smith acknowledged that Robertson doesn’t have a felony record but sought prison time in the case.

Robertson was spotted behind the Topsy stores when he fled from deputies, running red lights and reaching speeds of up to 100 mph, according to Smith.

Robertson admitted to attempting to elude officers and having a vehicle that was taken from the parking lot of St. Mary’s Hospital while its owner was at work.

Attorney Kris Brown said Robertson was stealing to support his drug habit.

At his sentencing, it’s likely Robertson will be required to pay $4,386 in restitution.
