Big Mama’s Car Show and Shine was back and better than ever on Saturday after a two-year hiatus, filling Lampe Park with many cars, attendees, music, craft vendors and food.

Big Mama’s Car Show was presented by the Young at Heart Senior Citizens club entirely by volunteers.

People said they were overjoyed to be able to enjoy all the cars shown at Saturday’s event.

“We had a great time today. I liked the old music and the old cars. It is a beautiful venue,” said Diane Baker.

Car owners such as Sam Bailey, 64, who have participated in the event since 2017 are grateful to be able to participate once again.  Bailey owns a 1951 Studebaker Champion Business Coupe.

“You hear all kinds of stories and they really do invoke a lot of memories that most other makes don’t, because they are very famous. You’re carrying on a tradition. We want to honor that tradition and keep it going,” said Bailey.

This year’s top-notch cars led to a close competition for judges. They had multiple ties that were re-judged to find a winner for the nine different categories. The most prestigious award being “best in show” went to Jim and Debra Cason for their ’56 Ford F100.

“It was our first time out, and it was awesome,” said Debra Cason.
