Genoa, Nev. — The grand opening celebration for Carson Valley Medical Center’s expanded 8,500-square-foot Rehabilitation and Outpatient Therapy Center is 4:30-6:30 p.m. today.

On Monday the Nevada State Police confirmed that the at-fault driver’s name won’t be released until charges are filed in the April 23 wrong-way collision that killed Fallon Montanucci.

It will be all budgets and bears at today’s Gardnerville Town Board meeting 4:30 p.m. today. Reports of bear sightings in Aspen Park on Centerville, and along Hussman and Mill Street has prompted the town to discuss providing bear proof cans to residents. Gardnerville is also finalizing its final budget at its town offices, 1407 Main St.

A Mottsville resident said the wind blew the roof off their barn just east of the base of Kingsbury Grade around 9:15 a.m. Monday. The closest wind gauge at Mottsville and 88 recorded a 39 mph gust around then, but I’m not surprised there were stronger gusts closer to the mountains. The fastest recorded gust was 53 mph at 3:10 p.m. southwest of Gardnerville, according to the Weather Service.

We’ll have a break from the wind today and Wednesday as high pressure builds. Today expect a high temperature of 69 degrees and 80 degrees on Wednesday. And then back down the weather roller coaster we go with 63 degrees forecast for Sunday.
