Bail was increased to $25,000 on Friday for a former pro football kicker who was arrested for a subsequent felony charge of driving under the influence last week.

David John Caylor, 55, is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court this afternoon after he was arrested just after midnight on Thursday morning.

Caylor has two prior felony instances of driving under the influence and was on house arrest in July 2020 when he allegedly tried to purchase a handgun. As a convicted felon, he was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Caylor appeared in court on Friday where it was learned he is on a hold from parole and probation.

He was sentenced to 2-5-year terms in 2012 and 2019 for felony DUI. In Nevada, any subsequent instance of driving under the influence after being convicted of a felony is punishable by up to 2-15 years.

• A woman who borrowed a vehicle to go to the store last summer and never brought it back admitted to a count of attempted possession of a stolen motor vehicle on Monday.

District Judge Tom Gregory will decide whether Alyson Mae O’Hara, 47, will face a felony or a gross misdemeanor when she appears for sentencing on April 18.

While she could get probation either way, the felony carries 1-4 years in prison while the gross misdemeanor is punishable by up to 364 days in jail.

O’Hara borrowed the Isuzu Axiom from a Washington resident. The vehicle was stopped in Gardnerville on Sept. 23, 2021, where driver Willis Boyd Annis was taken into custody.

Confusion over the vehicle’s status led to O’Hara being released. A warrant was issued for her arrest after things were sorted out with Washington authorities. She was extradited to Douglas County on the vehicle theft charge.

Deputy District Attorney Matt Johnson asked that O’Hara’s bail remain at $2,500 cash, saying she had a history of thefts and drug arrests, though it has been five years since her last felony conviction.

• A 31-year-old Carson City woman admitted to attempted possession of a stolen vehicle on Monday.

Andrea Elizabeth Gonder also faces either a felony or gross misdemeanor on April 18.

Gonder was pulled over Aug. 29, 2021, in a Honda Civic with another vehicle’s license plate.

Attorney Brian Filter said Gonder had a severe addiction and asked that she be released on her own recognizance to begin drug court.

“That puts the ball in her court,” Filter said.

Prosecutor Matt Johnson agreed about Gonder’s addiction, but said he felt it would be better if she remained in custody until her sentencing.

“If she starts using again, she’ll start stealing again,” he said.

While her bail will remain, she was told she could attend Western Nevada Regional Drug Court until her April 18 sentencing.
