Election filing kicks off at the courthouse on Monday morning

What promises to be an active Douglas County School Board of Trustees race started early on Monday when Topaz Ranch Estates resident Katherine Dickerson filed for School Board District 6 seat being held by Ruhenstroth resident Heather Jackson.

Filing opened at 8 a.m. at the historic Douglas County Courthouse.

Filing in the second Clerk-Treasurer’s window was District Attorney Mark Jackson, who is seeking his fifth term in the office.

The second round of candidates filing were Sharla Hales, who is running for commissioner district 2 seat held by John Engels and County Recorder candidate Shawnyne Garren, who is seeking to replace Karen Ellison.

Sheriff Dan Coverley filed for office on Monday morning.

New Minden resident and former Douglas County Commissioner Larry Walsh filed for Minden Town Board on Monday. Town Board member Bill Driscoll announced he was running last month.

Chief Nevada Appeals Judge and Fish Springs resident Michael Gibbons filed on Monday morning with the Nevada Secretary of State’s office in Carson City, according to a notice he sent out.
