Genoa, Nev. — A tip of the top hat from this old Varsity Quizzer to the Douglas High School Academic Team who secured a 7-0 record in the Northern Nevada Quiz Bowl League on Tuesday, beating Reno, Bishop Manogue, Whittell, Hug, McQueen and Churchill high schools to earn their first-place position.


Concert season at Minden Park will start May 27, with dates set for June 17, July 8, Aug. 5 and Aug. 26 for the Douglas County Parks & Recreation 2022 Summer Concert Series. The Inliners are holding their car show on June 5 and the town will be hosting its July 4 picnic on Independence Day. The Town Board meets 5:30 p.m. today in the CVIC Hall


Genoans will be tackling the budget at their town board meeting 5:30 p.m. today in the Genoa Town Hall. Also on the agenda are training on planning and the Nevada open meeting law. Carson Valley Trails Association representative Carlo Luri will talk about cleaning up the Genoa Vista Trail.


Regional Transportation Commissioners will be discussing the county’s five-year plan 4 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden.


If Minden comes anywhere near the fifth of an inch forecast for Thursday night, it will be the most moisture the county seat has received in 2022. The front isn’t expected to arrive until after 10 p.m. Thursday. There might be a little snow up top.


For today, expect mostly sunny skies with a high temperature near 66 degrees. The wind is forecast to be 5-10 mph out of the southeast before shifting southwest this afternoon.
