Highway 395 through Minden and Gardnerville shut down at 8 a.m. today in preparation for the Carson Valley Days Parade through the towns.

At Douglas High School, Taylor’s Scissors ‘n’ Clippers pirate crew prepared for the parade for the Happiest Valley on Earth.

It’s going to be a long day, as the salon is also sponsoring the return of the Carson Valley Days beard contest in Lampe Park tonight.

In Minden, a quorum of the town board was cooking breakfast for parade goers.

In Gardnerville, Kim’s Donuts was doing a rousing business as residents purchased treats for the parade.

The highway will be closed from Buckeye Road in Minden to Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville until around 11 a.m.

The parade starts at 9 a.m.
