With just over a month before school starts in Carson Valley, online registration has opened for new students.

In Nevada, children are supposed to be 5 years old on or before the first day of school, which is Aug. 22.

Children who have completed a pre-kindergarten program and are 5 by Sept. 30 may also register. For more information, visit www.dcsd.k12.nv.us

A back-to-school immunization clinic is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 28 at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville

Sponsored by the Douglas County School District and Douglas County Community Health Clinic parents and guardians are invited to bring their children to a back-to-school immunization clinic to receive all routine childhood vaccines.

The age range is from kindergarten through high school, and college students are welcome as well.

The Douglas County School District requires vaccinations for students enrolling in school and entering seventh grade. As of July 1, students enrolled in the 12th-grade must receive the meningococcal vaccine before the start of the 2022-23 school year.

For a list of immunization requirements, visit ImmunizeNevada’s School Vaccinations page.

College freshmen younger than 23 years old who are enrolled at a Nevada college or university and living in a dormitory are required to receive the meningococcal vaccine.

Parents vaccinating a child at the clinic should bring any notifications about vaccinations received from the school, the child’s insurance card, and previous vaccination records. Parents who cannot locate immunization records should contact their health care provider.

If their children were immunized in Nevada, parents can also visit Nevada WebIZ, a statewide immunization registry, at https://izrecord.nv.gov/public/Application/PublicPortal or call Nevada WebIZ at 775-684-5954.

Medicaid and most major insurances will be accepted. There is an administration fee for those uninsured; however, no one will be turned away due to the inability to pay.
