Genoa, Nev. — Diamond Valley School closed Monday after 60 percent of its staff, teachers and students are in isolation or quarantine. The Early Learning Center will remain open. The school will reopen on Feb. 7, according to the order.


The Douglas County School District opens online registration for kindergarten and new students on Jan. 31. Students have to be 5 on or before Aug. 22.


According to Minden-Tahoe Airport’s marketing plan, establishing an air traffic control tower is a long-term goal, but not one that will occur any time soon, and has lots of steps before coming to fruition.


The Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife meets 5 p.m. today in the Carson Valley Medical Center Room of the Douglas County Community & Senior Center. Top of the list is a discussion of honoring long-time member Bob Cook.


Library Trustees meet 10 a.m. today where they will pin down the use of $25,000 to hire a search firm to look for a new director. They’ll also discuss appointing one of their own to work with Human Resources and the search firm. They meet at the library.

It’s official. No rain is expected to fall in Western Nevada through the end of January. Today is predicted to be a smidge cooler with a high of 45 degrees and the wind out of the east at 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph.
