Genoa, Nev. — An analysis prepared as part of the Minden-Tahoe Airport marketing plan cites not having a tower as a weakness. The Airport Advisory Committee meets 5:30 p.m. today at the airport admin building. You can find out more at douglascountynv.gov and clicking agendas and minutes.

Forecasters are calling January remarkably dry, and they are right. Unless some surprise slider comes along this week, Minden is looking at the third goose egg for precipitation in January in 116 years. Only 1984 and 1985 recorded zeroes, according to National Weather Service records dating back to 1906.

The good news is a nice weekend for Eagles and Agriculture which is expecting about 300 participants during the four-day event starting Thursday. I’m not particularly confident of the odds of getting on a bus tour, but you can place your bet at carsonvalleynv.org/eagles-ag

The annual Father Daughter Dance is 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center. You can get tickets at the center and information by calling 775-782-5500, ext. 1.

Expect sunny skies and a high temperature near 55 degrees today with the wind northwest at 5 mph in the afternoon. It will cool off a bit as a cold front blows through on Tuesday.
