Douglas boys basketball dispatch Woodland Christian

The Tiger boys basketball team had no trouble with Woodland Christian Saturday at home in an 83-43 win.

From the opening tip it was all Douglas as senior JC Reid led the Tigers with a team-high 14 points.

Three other Tigers finished in double digits as Jack Tolbert and Jett Lehmann both had 11 points while Thomas McDowell added 10 of his own.

Junior Jeremiah Pitts was 3-for-6 from the field as he posted nine points along with a steal and an assist.

Theo Reid had six points, eight rebounds and four blocks for Douglas.

UP NEXT: Douglas (4-3, 1-1 in Class 5A North league play) have one contest scheduled this week, taking on Reed (2-5, 0-1) Thursday in Reno at 7 p.m.

Douglas wrestling fifth at Cody Louk

The Tiger wrestling team had two second-place individual finishes Saturday as the team overall was fifth place in the weekend invitational.

At 190 pounds, Aaron Tekansik went 3-0 before falling to Braelen Toles of Damonte Ranch in the championship match.

Michael White also fell in his final match after putting up three wins by fall to open the tournament.

Jaxon Nixon was fourth for Douglas at 175 pounds with all six of his matches ending via the pin. Nixon went 4-2 with three of his four pins coming in the first round.

Dalton Nixon placed fifth for Douglas at 157 pounds with four wins by fall.

Cody Highfill (120 pounds) and Kolton Zinn (150) were both sixth overall.

As a team, the Tigers ended the tournament with 170.5 team points.

Spanish Springs won the team title with 342.5 team points.

Due to inclement weather, the Douglas High girls basketball team didn’t get to take on Grants Pass Friday.

UP NEXT: Douglas (2-4, 1-1) will travel up to Reed (3-1, 1-0) Thursday for a 5:15 p.m. start.
