Genoa, Nev. — The signs say that the state expects to finish paving Muller Lane today and probably Tuesday, so expect delays through there. Both Mottsville and Genoa lanes are open without restrictions, so maybe take an alternate route.


Firefighters kept a taxi that self-immolated on Kingsbury Grade from spreading to the mountain on Sunday afternoon. Kingsbury was closed for a short time around 3 p.m. as crews doused the fire. I didn’t hear any report of injuries.


Recreation Coordinator Amanda Reid is the new Douglas County Community Services Manager. According to her Linked In page, Reid has worked for the county since 2008 and was previously recreation coordinator since 2013.


Community Services Director Scott Morgan will talk about the effort to find a new assistant director at today’s Senior Services and Public Transit Advisory Board, which is meeting 8:15 a.m. in the Carson Valley Medical Center conference room at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.


Air quality in Carson Valley is generally in the good range this morning, allowing residents to open their windows over the weekend and enjoy some mild end-of-summer weather. It’s too much to hope that there won’t be any haze from the drift smoke today.


Expect sunny skies and a high near 86 degrees, with the wind calm, picking up at 5 mph out of the northwest this afternoon. Tonight, the wind is expected to shift west at 5-10 mph, gusting at 20 mph.
