With only two weeks left until the Carson Valley Days Parade and preceding 5K run, Tahoe Youth & Family Services is still accepting sign-ups for the first in-person 5K run since the pandemic.

“This time it is even more exciting, because it is the conclusion to our Triple Challenge For Recovery,” said organization Executive Director Karen Carey. “We will host an in-person 5k run-jog-walk at the Carson Valley Days Parade on June 12, 2021. Medals will be given out to the first 125 who sign-up for the in-person race.”

Sign-ups are available at http://www.100milesforrecovery.com.

Another Carson Valley Days pre-party is the breakfast sponsored in Minden Park by the town.

Sponsored by the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club, Carson Valley Days kicks off on June 10.

Advance carnival tickets are on sale now at Nevada State Bank in Minden as well as Raley's and Accolades Trophies in Gardnerville.

Tickets are $30 each, and are good for June 11-13 for the carnival in Lampe Park.

Presale tickets are not valid for 2-1 Buddy Night on June 10. Those tickets are only available onsite at Lampe Park.

Deadlines are next week to sign up as a vendor for the fair at Lampe Park or to enter the parade.

Those interested in having a booth have until June 6 to sign up while parade entries are due on June 7. Applications can be found under the Carson Valley Days tab on the club’s website at www.carsonvalley2030.com.

The theme for this year’s parade is “In a Valley Far Far Away,” a tribute to “Star Wars.” Carson Valley Lions are selling buttons for the event recreating the classic poster for the 1977 film.

Buttons are $2 each or two for $3 at Raley’s, Nevada State Bank, JT Basque Bar & Dining Room, Accolades Trophies and Battle Born Wines, or through Ron Santi by calling 775-315-2354.

Collectors seeking 2020 buttons may still be able to purchase them at Accolades.

The annual parade has been a Carson Valley tradition since 1946. The original Carson Valley Day was in 1910, and some form of celebration has followed every year since.

Boy Scouts from Troop 33 are working on the rental, installation and removal of Carson Valley Days banners.

Interested businesses may visit www.carsonvalleydaysbanners.com and complete the request form. Hefner reminded participants to click the link on the pay to process the donation.

Registration is open for the Carson Valley Days Golf Tournament scheduled for June 10.
