All-region teams and a college world series bid

 Douglas High golfers Kole Karwoski and Alex Garton both received honorable mention nods on the 2021 Northern Nevada Class 5A boys’ golf all-region teams.Garton posted a top 10 finish at Toiyabe and Arrowcreek this season before he and Karwoski finished third and fourth, respectively, at Somersett giving the Tigers a team win during the regular season.At regionals Karwoski shot an 85-88 – 173, tying for 15th while Garton posted a 90-88 – 178 to tie for 18th.

Haden Keller headed to Div. II College World Series
Haden Keller, a 2017 Douglas High graduate, helped Northwest Nazarene University (Idaho) clinch a berth in the 2021 Div. II College World Series last weekend.
Keller, who is a junior outfielder with the Nighthawks, played in 31 games this season, starting 25.
NNU went 34-8 in the regular season and won 14 of its final 16 games before sweeping its way through the GNAC championships.
In the West Regional, NNU dropped its opening contest to Western Oregon University before besting them twice in the next two days to win the regional grouping and make the Div. II College World Series.
Keller hit for a .378 batting average with the Nighthawks this season, posting an OPS of 1.003. He had six doubles, a triple, four home runs and 25 runs driven in this season.
It marks the first time at Northwest Nazarene a team has won a regional title, in any sport.
Up next for NNU will be No. 1 seed Central Missouri (43-6) to kick off the eight-team, double elimination tournament which will take place in Cary, North Carolina.


Hubbard, Natividad headed to Junior All-Star game
Douglas High has two junior baseball players that earned a little more postseason recognition as James Hubbard and Gabe Natividad will be playing in the Northern Nevada Junior All-Star game June 7.
