Boil water notice rescinded for East Valley water users

A boil water order has been rescinded for the Skyline area of East Valley.

A boil water order has been rescinded for the Skyline area of East Valley.

A precautionary boil water notice has been rescinded for the East Valley Water System in the Skyline Service Area.

“All required bacteriological sample test results indicate that E. coli and other coliform bacteria are not present in the system,” officials said. “Your water supply is safe for all normal domestic use.”

The order was issued Monday due to a loss of pressure in the area.

A mechanical component failed and booster pumps lost communication with the remote storage tank and the system did not respond to demand, Public Works Director Phil Ritger said.

Residents may experience low water pressure but the water supply is not being shut off. Do not drink the water without boiling it first. Bring all water to a boil for two minutes and let it cool before using.

Ritger said the order was “precautionary” due to a loss of pressure in the system and not because of a confirmed positive test result for bacteriological contamination.

“This is a precautionary measure whenever a water line break with loss of pressure or other similar incident occurs where contamination of the system is possible.”
