The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office recently instructed a 40-hour Field Training Officer School to 33 law enforcement officers and police dispatchers from around the Northern State of Nevada. Agencies who were represented in the class were: Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Pyramid Lake Tribal PD, Nevada Dept. of Gaming Control, Yerington PD, Nevada State Parks, Storey County Sheriff’s Office, Churchill County Sheriff’s Office Lander County Sheriff’s Office, Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. This Peace Officer Standards and Training approved course is required by Nevada law enforcement agencies for veteran officers to train rookie officers, and vital for educating and preparing FTOs for their new role as a law enforcement trainer.
