An internet safety class for parents of children and teens is 6-8 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center on Waterloo Lane. They’ll cover several topics from how social media is used to lure children, online safety tips, as well as a Q & A portion.

One thing that isn’t today is a walk-in vaccination clinic that will actually occur 3-5:30 p.m. Thursday. A mix-up in the dates reported by Carson City Health and Human Services resulted in the wrong date appearing in Saturday’s paper.

My phone number at The R-C has changed to 775-782-5122. My old Black Jack extension (it was 21) that I’ve had for years has been disabled. Until last week, that number would still send me an email with messages, but that left with the phone server last week.

Planning commissioners voted 4-3 on Tuesday to reject a design review for a large storage unit facility south of Gardnerville, supporting the town’s earlier denial.

The 2020 Douglas County Master Plan was recognized by the Nevada State Planning Conference as the 2021 outstanding rural plan.

With 10 days until Christmas, it’s a good bet there will be snow on the ground somewhere in Douglas County, whether its Genoa peak or Minden is the real question.

A winter weather advisory begins 4 p.m. today as a new storm is forecast to bring 1-4 inches of snow to the valley. The winds are going to be gusting up to 45 mph so strap in.

Today’s high is supposed to hit 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies before the clouds roll in for the next wave. There’s a pretty good chance of snow overnight before it wraps up Thursday morning.
