Genoa, Nev. — A van rolled over after hitting an icy spot on Kingsbury Grade around 5:50 a.m. today. Medics said the driver wasn’t hurt, but deputies did request that the state sand Doolittle curve. The incident command was called Icy I.C., so that’s a pretty good hint to be careful through there.

Gardnerville is preparing for its big fireworks show tonight at Heritage Park. Santa opens Christmas Kick-Off show at 4:30 p.m. All About Dance, Dance Workshop and the Sierra Lutheran High School Choir are performing starting at 5:30 p.m.

According to the Weather Service, the temperature in the Valley should be around 46 degrees at 7 p.m., so dress warmly for tonight’s events. With the breeze forecast at 6 mph, it should be good weather for both the entertainment and the fireworks.

County commissioners are scheduled to review four project development agreements, only one of which is out of compliance, according to county staff. Phase 2 of the former Park Place was required to build a section of Muller Parkway, but never recorded a map or built their piece of the road.

Commissioners are also scheduled to hear a presentation on changes to the secured property tax roll due to the Tamarack Fire that rendered 13 homes unusable or uninhabitable for 90 days or more.

If the zone change for the recycling plant is pulled, commissioners will have relatively short meeting today. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. today in the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., Minden. You can find out more by going to www.douglascountynv.gov and clicking on agendas and minutes.

Expect sunny skies and a high temperature around 65 degrees today, with the wind calm. The forecast remains similar through the weekend, but we might get some rain on Monday. Don’t get attached.
