Genoa, Nev. — County commissioners approved the first 190 homes 4-1 on Thursday of 2,500 included in last year’s Park Cattle Holdings master plan amendment. Ashland Park off Toler Lane in Gardnerville is down from the original 292 homes.

The number of active cases came within two of the total number of recoveries on Thursday. Carson City Health and Human Services reported Douglas County had 557 active cases and 559 recoveries, with five deaths. An additional 41 cases were reported on Thursday.

Eleven presumptive positive coronavirus cases will affect individuals at ASPIRE, Whittell and Douglas high schools, as well as Carson Valley, Pau-Wa-Lu middle schools and Gardnerville and Scarselli elementary schools.

Superintendent Keith Lewis sent out a chart showing that 30 staff members and 76 students have tested positive for the virus since the beginning of the school year. The district’s biggest school, Douglas High School, had the highest numbers with 33 students and nine staffers testing positive since the beginning of the year.

Gardnerville Public Works Superintendent Geoff LaCost was in the bucket truck last night as Town Manager Erik Nilssen supervised after the computer running the town’s light show glitched out. I’m confidant they’ll have to whole thing working soon. Minden plans to flip the switch on the gazebo and flag pole lights tonight. Hope’s tree comes on in Genoa at 6 p.m.

That slight chance of snow for Sunday is down to no chance. Expect sunny skies and highs in the 50s over the next week.
