Genoa, Nev. — Gardnerville approved its portion of the Buckeye Farms Agrihood specific plan 4-1 on Tuesday evening. Valley native Mike Henningsen was the vote in opposition, saying he was uncomfortable voting for a plan that extends 30 years, that he knows will change.

Tonight the plan goes to the Minden Town Board where members are meeting in person. Both towns are advisory to the Douglas County Board of commissioners. Minden is meeting 5:30 p.m.

Genoans have been recruiting a fifth town board member since there weren’t enough candidates in the last election to cover all the seats. Former town board member Patricia Eckman and retiree R. “Alex” Alexander are up for the job. The Genoa Town Board meets virtually 5:30 p.m. Go to for meeting organization.

The earthquake fault near Coaldale awoke with a start 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with a 5.16 magnitude quake, which set off a slew of aftershocks, including a 3.28 temblor 18 klicks southeast of Topaz Lake.

Eight presumptive positive cases of coronavirus were reported by the school district on Tuesday, affecting individuals associated with Douglas High, Pau-Wa-Lu and Carson Valley middle schools and Scarselli Elementary School, Superintendent Keith Lewis said.

While the Nov. 7 snowfall in Carson Valley broke some records, it didn’t do much to move the drought needle. The 1.3 inches of precipitation recorded for the month and nothing in October came up short of the 1.56-inch average for the first two months of the water year.

I can do the entire week’s forecast in one sentence. It’s going to be sunny with highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s with vague breezes in the afternoon through next Tuesday.
