Pack downs Colorado Christian 86-55 in exhibition



RENO (Nevada Athletics) —  The University of Nevada men’s basketball team had five players score in double figures on Wednesday night at Lawlor Events Center as the Wolf Pack defeated Colorado Christian 86-55 in an exhibition contest.  The Pack is 2-0 in exhibition play and host Utah on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season home opener.

Nevada led 9-0 with less than three minutes off the clock and would not trail in the victory over CCU. The Pack led by 20 points, 29-9 with 8:31 to play in the first half and pushed it to 23 before settling for a 19 point advantage at the break, 42-23.

The Cougars got within 12 points in the second half but Nevada responded and had its largest lead of the night of 33 points with 50 seconds to play.

Nevada shot 43.8 percent for the game and held CCU to 38.5 percent. The Pack dished out 20 assists and committed just eight turnovers on 32 made shots. On the boards the home team dominated 48-28.

Junior Jalen Harris led five Nevada players in double figures with 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Jazz Johnson finished the night with 16 points and three assists. Senior Lindsey Drew just missed a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbed nine boards. Newcomer Johncarlos Reyes reached double figures with 12 points and had six rebounds. Senior Nizré Zouzoua was the fifth player in double figures with his 12 points and contributed three assists.

Collin Hunn (16), Justin Engesser (11) and Spencer Hoffman (11) reached double figures for the Cougars.
