Previous season’s postseason results: Girls finished third at regionals and 13th at state. Boys finished second at regionals and eighth at state

Players to watch out for: Ruben Alanis is a well-rounded swimmer, proficient in all strokes and can fill any position. Emily Giovanetti, again, can swim every stroke and fill any position, and the girls 200 medley relay.

What are your team’s goals for the season?: To qualify as many swimmers for regionals as possible.

Who are your leaders/captains and what do you expect from them?: Justin Bivens and Emily Turnham. Our team captains are responsible for helping new team members sort through the chaos of a meet, planning team unity events, setting good examples during workouts, showing good sportsmanship and passing on team traditions.

What are the team’s strengths?: Our girls team has many returning swimmers with many of them swimming year round. They are a young team with experience. The boys team has some experience we’re just short on numbers.

What are areas to work on?: We need to continue to work on conditioning and fine tuning stroke technique. We work on fundamentals every practice. We know we have a lot of hard work ahead to stay competitive.

How does the league look and which teams will be tough to beat?: Truckee and South Tahoe are always strong programs. Truckee’s boys team were state champions last year and the girls took second.

What does Fallon need to do to make the playoffs, including state?: Qualify as many swimmers in as many events as possible for regional preliminaries. Continue to stay focused on where we want to be in May and work to make personal records (PR) at each meet.
