The Board of Supervisors on Thursday will hear from Assemblyman Al Kramer, R-Carson City, about legislation he is sponsoring or co-sponsoring in the 80th session of the Nevada Legislature.
Those bills are Assembly Bill 191, which would provide grants for Mobile Outreach Safety Team services; AB 214, which allocates funding to do a feasibility study for a museum at the Nevada State Prison; bill draft request S-50 to revise the Carson City Airport Authority Act; and BDR 48-45 to authorize counties to use general fund dollars to cover special assessments on water use if the amount assessed on a property owner is less than the cost of collecting it. The board may take action to support any of the bills.
The supervisors will also hear from Northern Nevada Development Authority, which is working with Centuria Foods Inc., to apply for incentives from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. According to the staff report, the business makes cannabidiol, known as CBD, from hemp, and is looking to locate in the Carson City area. The company said it would bring 60 jobs with an average wage of $31.35.
The supervisors will vote whether to take over leases from the Nevada Department of Transportation with several businesses along South Carson Street. The leases are for rights of way once owned by NDOT and handed over to Carson City with the road.
The board will vote to approve a contract not to exceed $227,700 with K.G. Walters Construction Co., Inc., to make improvements at the Empire lift station.
The supervisors will vote to approve a Carson City Health and Human Services strategic plan for a $834,091 reimbursement from the Indigent Accident Fund. The plan calls for money for additional personnel and funds for programs for the city’s indigent population.
The board will vote to name two new park facilities, a neighborhood park at the Schulz Ranch residential development and the disc golf facility, based on recommendations from the Parks and Recreation Commission.
And it will vote whether Capitol City Liquidators is in compliance with outside storage municipal code. In December, the board gave the South Carson Street business 90 days to become compliant before having its business license revoked.
