Faith & Insight: Reminders that we’re all special to God

I probably first saw it 30 years ago. I saw one again last week. You’ve seen the poster, too. A toddler is making a big pouty face and says, “I know I’m somebody, ‘cuz God don’t make no junk!” The grammar is faulty, but the words are truth!

Each one of us, the world around, is special to God. I keep a list of Bible verses nearby when I’m down and need to be reminded of his divine favor.

Joshua 1:5: “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.”

Isaiah 49:15-16: “Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands...”

Zephaniah 3:17: “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Zechariah 2:8: “Whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.”

Malachi 3:17: “‘They shall be mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘On the day that I make them my jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.’”

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

It’s the truth — you are special! After all, he gave you the most precious gift of all. He gave his son so you can have life forever.
