SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: 200 concerts for Carson City Symphony is music to our ears


Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels is a weekly feature in the Appeal’s Opinion pages in which the Appeal gives Silver Dollars to those who deserve recognition and occasionally a Wooden Nickel to those who deserve criticism.

SILVER DOLLAR: Congratulations to the Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, who will perform their 200th concert on Sunday at the Carson City Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theater.

SILVER DOLLAR: To students from Wild Horse Children’s Theater in Carson City for winning the Freddie G. Award for Excellence in Ensemble Work at the 2019 Junior Theater Festival West held at the Sacramento Convention Center and the Wells Fargo Pavilion. Also to the Wild Horse Children’s Theater’s Sydney Berg and Roslyn Williams, who made it to the callback for future Broadway Junior shoots for “how-to” choreography videos for soon-to-be released Broadway Junior musicals. And to Wild Horse Children’s Theater’s Braden Holub and Camilla Beckwith, who were named to the Junior Theater Festival All-Stars.

SILVER DOLLAR: To the winners in last Saturday’s Miss Carson City and Outstanding Teens Pageant at the Carson City Community Center: Miss Carson City Tessa Stevens, Miss Carson City Outstanding Teen KylaJae West, Miss Eagle Valley Macie Tuell, and Miss Eagle Valley outstanding Teen Karrina Ferris.
