Oct 26, 1929 - Feb 13, 2019 Roland D. Williams (Rollie) passed away on February 13th, 2019, at the age of 89. He was born October 26, 1929, in Bradford, PA, to Roland E. and Gladys (Booth) Williams. After graduating from Bradford High School, he joined the United States Navy and served as a Machinist's Mate on the USS Princeton, the USS Boxer, and the USS Carter Hall during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, Rollie attended Tri-State University at Angola, IN, where he earned a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college, he worked at Clark Equipment in Battle Creek, MI, and Rohr Aircraft Company in Chula Vista, CA, then he found his calling at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, CA, where he met his beloved wife, Thelma, and spent 31 years as a Facilities Engineer. Rollie and Thelma raised 5 kids together in Campbell, CA. They were active in each of the kid's lives coaching sports teams and supporting music programs, cheer leading, and scouting activities. Rollie and Thelma traveled the world, boasting 29 cruises during their 28 years of retirement in Carson City, NV. They volunteered at the Railroad Museum and Nevada State Museum, up until Thelma declined into dementia. In 2018 Rollie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and fought it heroically for one year until he finally lost the battle. He is mourned by his wife, Thelma; his five children, Dawn (Doug) Axlund, Michael (Monica) Bayless, Susan (Mark) Boudinot, Lisa Jean, Dean (Julie) Williams; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
