Youth baseball signups almost over

The signup period for the 2018 Fallon Youth Baseball season is almost over.

Signups will close Friday.

Teams are divided by age groups — ages 4-12 are on Cal Ripken teams and 13-18 are on Babe Ruth. Parents are responsible for buying socks, belts, cleats and pants for players; a hat and jersey will be provided.

Tryouts begin Saturday at Oats Park with 12-year-olds starting at 9 a.m., 11-year-olds at 10 a.m., 10-year-olds at 11 a.m. and nine-year-olds at noon.

Opening day is March 24 and will feature a special pancake breakfast. The championship games will be played June 9.

A group trip to the May 5 Reno Aces game is also planned, though tickets must be purchased independently.
