Trump falls from one debacle into another

Our “poor little rich boy,” aka Leader of the Free World, has had a busy month so far. Consider: “I would be honored to meet with Kim Jong-un, (‘he’s a pretty smart cookie’?) under the proper circumstances.”

Proper circumstances? Perhaps a promise to not assassinate any more of his family members would suffice.

Then there was the invitation to the Philippine President Duterte for an official Washington visit. Never mind that he is a despot responsible for murdering thousands of his own people ... and also someone who cast aspersions on former President Obama’s parentage.

And, of course, we cannot forget — when asked on national TV if he stood by his charge that he had been “wire tapped” by Obama, he hemmed and hawed until finally, when pressed for an answer, exploded with, “I don’t stand by anything,” and with an even more petulant pout than normal, stomped off to the presidential desk and started leafing through some (very important?) loose papers that had been lying there.

Giving his less-than-overwhelming penchant for telling the truth, this must have been an extremely painful experience for him!

Finally, there was the “history lesson” where we learned Andrew Jackson was “really angry” about the Civil War even though he died 16 years before the first shot was fired!

When America finally awakens from this nightmare, I wonder how long it will take to eradicate the stench from the White House and restore it to its preeminence in the world as a symbol of compassion, honesty, hope, “liberty and justice for all.”
