Carson scored 11 runs in the first three innings to take an 11-0 lead and added six runs in the fourth for the final margin in the game that was called after 4 1/2 innings due to the mercy rule. Camiell Simpson singled and Nicole Brown had an RBI single during Carson’s four-run first inning.

Luschar had a solid all-around game with two hits and three stolen bases and Brown added two hits.

Galena 7, Douglas 6, 8 innings

RENO — Galena pushed across four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out a season-saving 7-6 Northern 4A win over Douglas on Thursday afternoon.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kelli Bangert stole home to tie the score with two outs and then Cecily Vallejo scored on an error as the Grizzlies secured a win that kept their playoff hopes alive.

Douglas (6-12 league, 8-21 overall) and Galena are now tied for eighth-place and the final seed into the region tournament next week. The Tigers wrap up their regular season Saturday with a doubleheader at home against Carson, while Galena faces a tough twin-bill at Damonte Ranch.

Alyssa Smokey hit a solo home run in the second inning and Casey Peck added a solo shot in the fifth to stake Kettja Bennett and the Tigers to a 3-0 lead.
