In partnership with Nevada Legal Service, Young Lawyers Section’s Disaster Legal Services Program is sponsoring a free ask-a-lawyer program 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday at the Supreme Court Law Library, 201 S. Carson St., room 201.
The programs are specifically designed to assist and offer free guidance to the victims of the flooding and storms in January and February, to those who are unable to afford a lawyer. Legal assistance includes life, medical and property insurance claims; home repair and contractor search, replacement of destroyed legal documents, consumer production matters, counseling on mortgage-foreclosure, landlord, and tenant problems.
Attendees are encouraged to bring any relevant documents pertaining to the assistance they desire. No appointments are necessary.
The winter storms in Northern Nevada resulted in damages for many homeowners and property, as President Trump declared a major disaster declaration for the area Feb. 17.
The Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada provides opportunities for the assimilation of young lawyers into the profession, as well as training ground for future members of the bar.
Nevada Legal Services, Inc., is a nonprofit organization providing free legal assistance to low-income Nevadans.
