Ormsby County shelter locations in case of atomic attack were described to the planning commission Monday by city-county planner Ray Smith as step 1-D in the Community Shelter Plan. The plan is based on an estimated nighttime population of 13,500 with about 10,214 spaces available. Permanent residents are to get a priority.

The best kept celebrity secret of recent days ended when authorities confirmed that actor Sean Penn is doing time in the Mono County Jail, cooking his own meals and working out in the exercise yard. Penn was serving time for punching a movie extra two tried to take his picture while filming the movie “Colors.”
