For the third year in a row, the Weapons of Grass Destruction won the Fallon Youth Club’s Kid’s Kup golf tournament.

The first place team consisted of Judge Mike Richards, Mike Richards II, Joe Cushing and Alan Kalt. Second place went to the team from Nevada Dental Arts after a three-way tie with teams Found It and ANK.

There were 19 teams in the tournament this year, raising over $6,200. Kelli Kelly, one of the tournament’s volunteers, said this was the highest turn out in the event’s five-year history. The Kid’s Kup is the second-largest fundraiser of the year for the Fallon Youth Club.

Kalt said his team had a good mix of talent that allowed them to play the best on each hole. He said it’s great to support Fallon’s youth and all the activities the club puts on.

“It’s a good event for the kids,” said Judge Richards. “It’s all about the kids; we appreciate the opportunity.”

Kalt added the real winners are the children who take advantage of the programs offered at the club. He said it was a great outing with friends and helped support a great cause.

The weather was perfect for the tournament. The summer heat took its time reaching higher temperatures, and as the day warmed there was a steady breeze keeping the golf course cool.

Shannon Goodrick, executive director of the club, said they received lots of good, positive feedback from the participants. She said it was a big success from a golfing standpoint as well as for their organization.

All funds raised by the tournament go toward Fallon Youth Club’s operating expenses and funding the various programs they offer.
