One man was detained Tuesday morning after a possible carjacking.

One man has been detained by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office following a possible carjacking that started in Douglas County.

Around 9:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a possible incident at the top of Spooner Summit. The victim called 911 stating he was run over and his vehicle taken. The vehicle, a gray Jeep Cherokee, was traveling toward Carson City.

Deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers located the vehicle at 5th and Carson streets, where they conducted a traffic stop. The suspect was detained by officers without incident.

According to officials, the incident may not have been a carjacking. After speaking further with the victim, he told Douglas County deputies he and the suspect were hanging out the night before and decided to drive toward Carson City. The suspect was driving and the two got into a verbal dispute, and while the vehicle was stopped, the suspect pushed the victim out of the vehicle and drove off.
