Cheers & Kudos: Thanks goes to Major League Baseball Hunter Pence for showing care to local family

I have no idea how everyone manages to write and correspond so quickly ... I’m still trying to get my posse to bed and two boys are interrupting me as I’m writing this!

Every night at dinner we have table talk, which consists of everyone saying their best and worst of the day. Tonight our best was hands down our FaceTime visit with Hunter Pence.

As a mom having a boy with cancer and three others that need me too, there have not been many days within the past five months where I haven’t felt an enormous weight upon my shoulders.

Talking with Hunter Pence was a ray of sunshine in my darkness. Thank you, Michael McQuain, friends, and even strangers who added to that light. The light came because of love and kindnesses shared by all of you.

Hunter Pence wasn’t for me, but I must say that it boosted a weary soul.

Hunter Pence was gracious, kind, humble, and caring. We are so appreciative of him and his wife Lexi for taking the time and persistence to get a hold of us.

Hunter asked Matt a lot of questions and Matt answered very vaguely. When we got off the phone I asked Matt why he didn’t talk more and he said, “I was speechless! Oh, mom, it was like Make a Wish!”

Hunter also talked to all the boys and asked their names and ages which warmed my heart. Tate and Ryan have been good sports, but are feeling the affects of being left out, so I was so appreciative. Ty was clueless and showed him his nerf gun and told him he was almost four.

Our counselor has a saying that rings daily throughout my mind: through the grief comes the gift. Thank you for being our gifts.
