Counsil pleads innocent to child sex assault charges

Joshua Counsil entered a plea of not guilty on Tuesday to charges he sexually assaulted two girls under the age of 14.

He faces three counts of sexually assaulting two girls under the age of 14 and two counts of lewdness with a child.

District Judge James Wilson set Counsil’s trial for June.

According to prosecutor Melanie Brantingham, the victims are sisters, the youngest of whom was 6 or 7 when the abuse started.

If convicted, Counsil faces multiple life sentences in prison.
