Carson City Senior Center Christmas Show is Friday

The Carson City Senior Center is hosting its first Christmas show on Friday.

“It’s a blessing for the seniors,” said Carol Schirlls, director of the center’s annual Senior Follies show who organized the event. “We were at rehearsals for Senior Follies and someone suggested we put together a Christmas show.”

The free show open to the public will feature 18 line dancers performing two numbers, a guitarist and a banjo player, singers, and a singalong of popular Christmas songs.

Santa will arrive to give out free raffle tickets and about a half dozen items will be raffled off, said Schrills, including a wine and cheese basket, cookbooks, and jewelry.

The show starts at 1 p.m. in the Sagebrush Dining Room after the center’s daily lunch.

The 2018 Senior Follies, being held in April, is switching from its usual variety show format to a talent show open to participants of all ages, said Schirlls.
