OXNARD, Calif. — Former Western Nevada College standout D.J. Peters was named as the California League’s Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year for the 2017 sesaon, it was announced Tuesday.
Peters, an outfielder who was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers after an outstanding career with WNC in 2016, was honored for his season with the Rancho Cucomonga Quakes. As MVP and Rookie of the Year, Peters was also named to the Postseason All-Star Team. Peters is second in the league with 24 home runs, seventh in hits at 129 and leads the league in total bases with 237. As of Tuesday night, Peters was hitting .285 on the season.
